Today’s featured crafter falls more into the realm of Arts and Crafts rather than strictly crafts. Nonetheless, I am pleased to present today’s featured ‘crafter’ Barking Bird Art.

Barking Bird Art is made by a woman named Rebecca who lives in Portland, Oregon ‘with a baby, a teenager, a husband, two nice cats and a REALLY stubborn dog’. Her illustrations are fab and simple, and never lack in cuteness.

Crafter Extraordinaire: Margaux Lange

Margaux Lange is a jewelry designer hailing from Brooklyn, New York. Her pieces are the sweet tasting pulp of the pop-culture fruit. Modern art at its finest. All of her items are one-of-a-kind, thus the prices are a bit high. However, the beauty of knowing that you will forever have your very own slice of the pop-culture movement makes it all worthwhile.

All of Margaux’s items are inspired by the timeless simplicity of Barbie. Margaux created the fascinating juxtaposition of wearing the body, on the body. Barbie has become the accessory instead of being accessorized. There is a certain kind of pleasure in the contrast and contradiction of something mass-produced being transformed and revealed as a unique, handmade, wearable piece of art.
